Side Events

Final Table

Final Table

Seat 1: Chris O’Donnell – 26 – Southampton – 382,000

Chris O’Donnell started playing poker for fun on his local scene three years ago before starting playing online and, “Taking it a bit more seriously.” This is his second UKIPT – he played Manchester as well. When asked about his strategy for the final, he said, “I don’t really have one to be honest. I’m jut going to see what happens. Basically I’m gonna wing it. Joke.” He’s planning to play more UKIPTs in future.

Seat 2: David Rudling-Smith – 19 – PokerStars Player – Cardiff – 333,000

David Rudling-Smith was the official short stack at the start of Day 3, and although he said at the start of play that he would be looking to get his chips in, he remains the shortie heading into the official final. He is being supported here by his dad Richard Rudling-Smith, a UK circuit stalwart who also played this tournament but busted before the money, and several friends. After the tournament, he’ll be going back to work in the army.

Seat 3: Richard Hasancebi – 29 – PokerStars Player – Brighton – 2,174,000

Chip leader and local boy Richard Hasancebi is a professional poker player, mostly playing small stakes cash games on PokerStars where he plays under the name “riksanchez”. He doesn’t play many tournaments, although he played UKIPT Nottingham earlier this year. He is being supported today by his brother, and a few friends. Of the other players at the final table, he thinks that David Trigg is going to be the most dangerous.

Seat 4: Jeff Duvall – 62 – London – 1,113,000

Jeff Duvall has almost legendary status in the UK poker scene. A professional poker player – although he cheerfully describes himself as “retired” – with almost $1.2 million in lifetime winnings, making a UKIPT final is just another day at the office for Duvall. His biggest ever cash was for over $175,000 when he finished 42nd in the 2009 WSOP Main Event. He mostly plays live - although he does occasionally play on PokerStars, he says that he can’t beat the online game. When asked who was the player most to be feared at the table, he replied, “The one with the biggest chip stack.”

Seat 5: Jaroslav Horak – 34 – PokerStars Qualifier - Litomerice, Czech Republic – 1,814,000

Jaroslav Horak has traveled all the way from the Czech Republic for this, his first UKIPT. He ‘s already had a cash this week, finishing third in the £100 NLH side event for £1,300. He started Day 3 of the Main Event as the overall chip leader, and although he is no longer in pole position, he starts the final as one of the big stacks. He’s being supported here by a friend who came with him from the Czech Republic.

Seat 6: Sinem Melin – 23 – Hertfordshire - 812,000

This is Sinem Melin’s third UKIPT – she played Nottingham last year and Newcastle this year – but this is the deepest she’s ever gone in one. Her strategy for the final is just to do what she’s done for the past few days: “Play my hands, play the position, pick my spots, nothing crazy.” She intends to play more UKIPTs.

Seat 7: David Trigg – 24 – PokerStars Player – London – 841,000

David Trigg’s life revolves around poker – he plays semi-professionally and the rest of the time is involved in running poker tournaments. He plays both live and online, and although he relies on it for his living he describes himself as a recreational player. He first got into poker watching it on TV with his dad when he was young. His dad is among an army of supporters coming down to support him at the final table today. When asked which of the other players he was most afraid of, he replied, “No-one in poker scares me.”

Seat 8: Rudi Johnsen – 24 – PokerStars Qualifier – Trondheim, Norway – 1,415,000

Rudi Johnsen has traveled further than most of our finalists to get here, but it’s not a one-off . He played UKIPT Manchester as well, and says that he likes the small buy-ins and good fields, and that UKIPTs are very easy to get to from Norway! Johnsen used to be an electrician but is now using his poker winnings to finance his studies instead – when he gets back to Norway he’s planning to take a month’s holiday before commencing studying.
